Ben Gannon
Ben has received many awards, including the Birr Lions Club Bursary at the Birr Festival of Music in 2018 and the Trench Award in 2020. He was a finalist in the prestigious Irish Freemason’s Young Musician of the Year 2019 and was awarded the Conrad O’Sullivan Award for the highest place woodwind and the overall third prize.
As an Orchestral Musician, Ben has performed with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Irish Chamber Orchestra. He has performed in many prominent venues such as Carnegie Hall, Ulster Hall, National Theatre of São Carlos, Prince Edward Theatre in London’s West End, Muzikebouw, Bernard Haitinkzaal, and National Concert Hall of Ireland. Recent appearances include the Birr Festival of Music and Clandeboye Festival 2022.
Ben made his Carnegie Hall debut performing the Marcello Oboe Concerto in May 2017. Ben completed his Bachelor in Performance with First Class Honours and a Licentiate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2021 studying with Ruby Ashley. He is currently pursuing his Master in Music Performance at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam studying with Aisling Casey, Miriam Pastor Burgos and Ernest Rombout.
