Howarth Single Reed Manager (1984 to 2004)
It is with huge sadness that I announce the death of our friend and colleague Peter Beaumont. He was popular and well-liked by staff and customers. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the saxophone was sought by players worldwide and he will be greatly missed.
Pete was also a keen sportsman, and was awarded life membership of Newark Athletic Club to recognise his many years of dedication and service, carried out with his contagious enthusiasm. He had reached a landmark birthday recently and in his desire to maintain his fitness he regularly ran a circuit from his home in Newark. On Tuesday 23rd March he completed this run and achieved a personal best time but within moments he tragically collapsed and died.
It was Pete's nature to always do his best and support those around him. As a musician and manager of the Howarth single reed shop he was always encouraging to musicians of all levels and will be remembered for his infectious good humour, kindness and of course, his big smile. He was a genuinely lovely man.
Our thoughts are with his wife Sue and the family.
