Power and Edge with Massive Core
– Extremely versatile from Pop, Smooth Jazz and Funk to Straight Ahead
The impact of the Rousseau 3.0 transition may be felt most profoundly of all on the new JDX Series. These mouthpieces have been completely overhauled and redesigned and the result is a fresh new series that is free-blowing, has improved altissimo and is very easy to control. These new models are an excellent choice for Jazz Band and popular music styles. The unique ‘V chamber’ design, which was previously exclusive to the original JDX Baritone, is now a feature of all the other models, including the brand new JDX Soprano. Also, all the tip opening numbers of the new JDX Series now align with popular Jazz mouthpieces. Like the other Rousseau 3.0 models, they feature an elegant matte finish with engraved Logos, and are made from start to finish at the JodyJazz factory in Savannah, GA.
A Note from Jody about the New Rousseau 3.0 JDX Models
The JDX Baritone design of Dr. Rousseau, always featured a unique “V” chamber and the Baritone was by far the best selling JDX model. The Alto and Tenor models were a quite different design. I decided to try Dr. Rousseau’s “V” Chamber in an Alto and Tenor model. The result was so amazing in my opinion that I decided to try the “V” Chamber on a Soprano version which didn’t exist before in the JDX series. Again, the result astounded me. Simply put, the JDX series of saxophone mouthpieces will do everything you need in a Jazz and Pop setting. They are easy to control, easy to play and easy to sound great on. If you try one, I’m pretty sure you will want to keep it.
Also, while I was working on the redesign of the pieces, I decided to make the tip openings correspond with most other popular Jazz mouthpieces, including JodyJazz, Meyer, Otto Link etc. That means that if you play a on a popular Jazz piece that the tip opening of your number 7 (for example) will be the same as a JDX 7.
